For anyone who has been accepted to their school of choice, they’ll know the pure anxiety and joy of opening that letter.

But for one young girl, Rachel Grace, that feeling was magnified all the more – because it was the only university she’d applied for.

Rachel, who has Down Syndrome, can be seen in this viral video opening a letter from East Stroudsburg University, Pennsylvania.

Barely able to get her words out as she reads the letter, she says aloud: “It is with great pleasure… to notify you of your acceptance into the CILLS programme – I got in! I’m going to college!”

Rachel was accepted to a full time, three year programme designed to help young adults with mental disabilities prepare for an independent and productive life in the community. The course is called Career, Independent Living and Learning Studies.
