Haanz Fa’avae-Jackson stars in Auckland Theatre Company’s Red, White & Brass, a hilarious crowd-pleaser is based on the true story of a Tongan rugby superfan who decides to form a traditional marching band to score tickets to the Tonga versus France Rugby World Cup game. The only problem is the band doesn’t exist and he has just four weeks to put one together!
The play tells a tale of friendship, family and the strength in standing up for what you believe in, and will take place from June 18 – July 7 2024 at the ASB Waterfront Theatre.
10 things you don’t know about me
1. I have four beautiful children. Three handsome boys and one beautiful girl.
2. My name has ‘NZ’ in it to acknowledge our family’s migration to New Zealand from Niue.
3. At 11 years old, I moved to Niue to live with my Nena from 2006 – 2009.
4. I audio described Red, White & Brass along with two other describers as part of the Whau Festival Movie Marathon 2023.
5. I am number 9 of 14 siblings.
6. I graduated from the Pacific institute of Performing Arts in 2014 with a Diploma. The same year my eldest son was born.
7. I played American Football when I was in High School for the JC Spartans (Juniors), Champs of 2011.
8. I sing and play guitar for Island Vibez Funk, a band my friends and I started a year ago.
9. In my last year of high school (2012), I sung lead in the first orchestrated cover of Ray Charles’, Georgia On My Mind, with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra in the Auckland Town Hall.
10. I’ve been working as a Te Ara Hou Teacher Aide at Manurewa High School since 2022.
