Shade was thrown. People came out of cardboard boxes. Jandals were worn. Jandals were removed in favour of a barefoot stroll around the red carpet (Guy Williams we’re looking at you). Safe to say that the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards 2017 was an eventful night.

If we were going to pick a best dressed, we would be a little stuck. Married at First Sight’s Angel‘s adorable pink Miss Crabb number was on point and Cassidy Morris‘s tinsel Trelise Cooper number had us wanting to decorate our Christmas trees. Then again, who could go past Art Green‘s bold choice of an op-shop-find as red-carpet wear?

Of course, Lorde, who is on a whole other level, looked as incredible as someone with 18 Tuis should do.

Scroll down to judge for yourself.

If she was Lorde: “I’d call up Taylor Swift and go hang out. Apparently they’re mates! Taylor’s quite cool, she’s got a cool group of friends and her music’s cool.”

On reuniting with Julia Sloane at the Bravo host launch: “Yeah, we were all there! No, that’s just my everyday pissed-off face.”

On her outfit: “She’s amazing. I’ve been following her for a while and I just had to wear one of her creations.”

Best place she’s roamed: “Probably America. It’s my favourite, especially New York and LA. I just got back a week ago. I was working and making music, but it was fun to go to Santa Monica Pier. I’ve wanted to go since I was about eight.”

Kiwi music crush: “Everyone is absolutely in love with Queen Lorde. I’m really excited to see her tonight and I watched her show last night. I saw her first show in 2013, which was really amazing, and I really fell in love with her. It’s really cool to be at the same awards as her.”

If she was Lorde: “I’d perform her music. It’s amazing!”
